Alessandra Lacorazza (she/they) is a queer Colombian-American writer-director and editor based in Brooklyn. Their work deals with personal and cultural memory, and incorporates themes of alienation and resilience.
Her debut feature “In the Summers” won the U.S. Dramatic Grand Jury Prize at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, where Alessandra also took home the U.S. Dramatic Directing Award. Alessandra’s short film "Mami" had its world premiere at Palm Springs ShortFest 2019, and was an official selection at NALIP, New York Latino Film Festival, Durban Film Festival and Nitehawk Shorts. She was a 2020 screenwriting fellow with WGA-East and FilmNation.
Her work has been supported by NYFA and FOFIF. Alessandra is currently working on their next script.
As an editor her work has focused on the queer and latinx communities and has been featured at various festivals and online publications and was short-listed for the Oscars (After Maria).
They are a worker-owner of the Meerkat Media Coop, Alessandra directs, produces, and edits artful and impactful videos for foundations, news magazines, publishers and non-profits.
